Subject: Optimizing Electronic Case Reporting
Dear eCR Partners,
We apologize for recent delays in communication about electronic case reporting (eCR). We understand many of you have questions about onboarding, so we want to provide an update.
As we assess and prioritize improvements to the HCO onboarding process in response to increased demands, we have temporarily paused new HCO AIMS onboarding activities and GoLive activities requiring additional testing as of April 17. We plan to resume onboarding efforts at the end of our evaluation period in July, at which time we will share our findings, recommendations, and a timeline for a long-term strategy to optimize eCR.
We will provide an update on our progress in late June. Thank you for your patience during this time.
Electronic case reporting (eCR) has been and will continue to be a cornerstone of modernization efforts for public health and healthcare. eCR has been a standout achievement in our data modernization journey, and we’ve achieved broad-scale adoption.
This has allowed us to reach a point where we need to optimize our strategy to set us up for long-term success. Over the next couple months, CDC will be focusing on:
- Enhancing the ingestion and use of eCR data by PHAs
- Evaluating the onboarding process for healthcare organizations.
These efforts will help establish a more sustainable long-term path, allowing us to capitalize on work to integrate healthcare and public health data.
eCR is a key part of interoperability between public health and health care.
Please direct questions regarding CDC’s efforts to optimize eCR to the eCR mailbox at ecr@cdc.gov with the subject line “eCR Optimization.”
